My training is all positive, reward based, with no use of force, fear, or intimidation. Positive training is fun for you and your dog and builds the bond between you. Working together to learn new skills, you will become a closer team with improved communication and trust.
Age appropriate vaccination or titre test records are required. No pinch collars, choke collars or flexible leashes. We limit class size to provide safety and to give individual attention. When you enroll in a course, we hold a space for you. If you cancel less than 7 calendar days before the class, you will not receive a refund.

This course teaches fundamental skills in a positive and enjoyable way. The focus is on basic obedience, manners and safety. Training includes name recognition, sit, down, come, stay, and loose leash walking.These are the core behaviors that every dog needs, and are the building blocks for Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog, Service Dog and all specialty training. In four fast moving sessions, you and your dog will become a team while learning these important skills.

AKC URBAN CANINE
This fun outdoor course is part of the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen program. It focuses on the skills for good dog manners in public places and gives you a training opportunity in a real life setting. There are no age or breed requirements. Dogs that have basic obedience skills and are not aggressive toward people or dogs are welcome. Enjoy walking and training your dog throughout Downtown at the Gardens. This session includes a stop for drinks and snacks.
Dogs who have a CGC test on record may earn a title for Urban Canine.

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN
The Gold Standard of Dog Training
The American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen program promotes good manners for dogs and responsible pet ownership. The AKC states that CGC is the first step toward Therapy Dog. Dogs should have basic obedience skills and not be aggressive around other dogs and people.
Five sessions provide skills training to prepare you and your dog for the evaluation in the 6th session. You'll get personal coaching and tips for success. Teams that pass the test can get an AKC certificate and title.
The 10 test items for CGC:
Accepting a friendly stranger
Sitting politely for petting
Appearance and grooming
Walking on a loose leash
Walking through a crowd
Sit, down, and stay
Coming when called
Reaction to another dog
Reaction to distraction
Non students may sign up for the test only. Fee - $25.

THERAPY DOG SKILLS
Learn specific dog and handler skills to prepare you for the Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dog evaluation. The course will review obedience and Canine Good Citizen skills and teach handling skills, dog body language, teamwork and communication. Dogs are expected to be friendly to strangers, not aggressive toward dogs and people, have basic obedience skills and current vaccinations. Taking Canine Good Citizen first is recommended. Required reading: On Talking Terms with Dogs, about 70 pages including pictures. We'll have this classic book at a discount at the first class. Students will be referred to certified Bright and Beautiful evaluators for testing.

In two enjoyable and stimulating sessions, we will lead you through a variety of easy to learn, novice level tricks. You'll be surprised by what your dog will learn. Dogs enjoy and benefit from brain training and bonding with you.
Your dog can earn an AKC title for performing 10 tricks. Dogs with a CGC certificate need only 5 tricks for the Novice title. All dogs including mixed breeds can earn an AKC title. Or just come to have fun with you dog!

For puppies up to 7 months
Bring your puppy for the crucial early learning and exposure that every pup needs. This enjoyable class will include play with other puppies, puppy handling, socialization experiences, information for owners and answers to questions. Age appropriate vaccinations required.
